Robber on bike killed in Manila

MANILA – A suspected robber died while another one was arrested after an encounter with the police on Wednesday in Sampaloc, Manila. Barangay 456 watchman June Herez said three suspects engaged policemen in a gun battle at the corner of J. Fajardo and Dos Castillas Streets. Herez said before the shooting incident, the suspects were seen in the area allegedly looking for someone to rob. A bicycle-riding suspect, identified as Richard Papa, died in the shootout. Another suspect who was also on bicycle, Arnulfo Condina, was arrested. A third suspect on board a tricycle managed to escape. Police said amid the spate of crimes involving "riding-in-tandem" suspects, some criminals have turned to bicycles to look less suspicious. – report from Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
