Energy chief should stay: Coloma

MANILA - Secretary Sonny Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office said Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla should stay at his post because he has done a good job in restoring power to the Visayas. Coloma issued the statement following Petilla's decision to resign as Department of Energy chief after he failed to achieve 100% restoration of power to areas affected by super typhoon "Yolanda." Only three out of 133 towns have yet to be reconnected to the grid. "A total of 250 transmission towers were toppled by the strong typhoon. Given the extent of the devastation, it would not be unreasonable to say that there would be extreme difficulties in fully restoring power," he said. ANC HEADSTART, December 26, 2013
