ERC chief Ducut dismisses resignation calls

Aside from activists, several lawmakers have called for the resignation or leave of absence of Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairperson Zenaida Ducut. Ducut is facing criticisms after the ERC gave the go-signal for Meralco's hefty rate increase. She is also accused of being a middleman in the pork barrel scam. But Ducut said she has yet to receive any formal complaint from the Ombudsman, so there is no basis at all for her to quit or go on leave. "Kung wala pa naman akong formal na natatanggap na complaint tapos magre-resign na ako, hindi ba parang inabandon ko ang mandato ko?" she said. - ANC Headstart, 18 December 2013
