With just days to go before the barangay polls, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reports 30 incidents of election-related violence so far. Twenty-two of the 30 incidents resulted in death. The number is slightly higher compared to the last barangay polls in 2010 when there were 25 reported cases. Over 500 people have also been arrested by the PNP for violating the gun ban. Meanwhile, the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have activated their joint security monitoring centers in preparation for Monday's polls. ANC Dateline Philippines, October 24, 2013
