MNLF attack not a legit act of rebellion: Deles

MANILA - Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Ging Deles believes former President Fidel Ramos was not criticizing the Aquino administration in his recent statements. In an interview on Headstart, Deles said she received a call from Ramos two nights ago commending her and urging her to complete the Bangsamoro Framework Agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and not to be distracted by the Zamboanga standoff. "So the message to me is don't let go of this process. Don't delay and I thank him for the advice. This is our message to the MNLF who wants to engage with the government, we are ready for you. For those who are not ready, don't let the peace process be held hostage," she said/ Meanwhile, Deles stopped short of calling the actions of Misuari's group in Zamboanga City a form of terrorism. "What was done in Zamboanga is not a legitimate act of rebellion. Rebellion is you fight the combatants because you don't accept the authority of government. What we are hearing from the civilians is that they were really used as human shields. It has terrorized communities," she said. Mornings@ANC, September 18, 2013
