Former prime minister Manmohan Singh Monday was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan Monday. With his election, Singh becomes the lone Congress representative from Rajasthan in the Parliament, since all other Rajya Sabha MPs from the state – nine – are from BJP as well as the 24 Lok Sabha MPs, who were elected earlier this year. The 25th LS MP, Hanuman Beniwal, is backed by the BJP and was elected from Nagaur through his party, the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party.

पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह को सोमवार को एक बार फिर से राज्यसभा का सदस्य चुन लिया गया... हालांकि इस बार वो राजस्थान से निर्विरोध राज्यसभा सदस्य चुने गए.. बीजेपी ने मनमोहन के खिलाफ कोई उम्‍मीदवार नहीं उतारने का फैसला किया था.. इसलिए उम्‍मीदवारों के नाम वापस लेने की आखिरी तारीख बीतने के बाद उन्‍हें निर्विरोध निर्वाचित घोषित कर दिया गया... राजस्थान के मुख्‍यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत ने मनमोहन सिंह को राज्‍यसभा के लिए चुने जाने पर बधाई दी...
