The match was reduced to 34 overs due to a delayed start because of rain. The hosts lost Chris Gayle early with Kuldeep Yadav picking up his wicket. Evin Lewis was striking the ball well and is batting at 40 off 36 balls. Shai Hope is on the crease to provide support. But started raining again and match had to be stopped with West Indies on 54/1 after 13 overs.

भारत-वेस्टइंडीज का पहला वनडे मैच बारिश की वजह से रद्द हुआ, शाम सात बजे शुरू होने वाले इस मैच को भारतीय समयानुसार रात 9 बजे शुरू किया गया। लेकिन बारिश की लुकाछिपी के चलते मैच कई बार शुरू होकर रोकना पड़ा। बीच में मैच दोबारा शुरू हुआ और लुईस ने तेजी से रन बनाना शुरू किया और टीम के स्कोर को 50 रन तक पहुंचा दिया। हालांकि लुईस के अलावा क्रिस गेल ने अपनी छवि से अलग खेल दिखाया और आउट होने से पहले 31 गेंदों में 12.90 की स्ट्राइक रेट से मात्र 4 रन बनाए, गेल को 11वें ओवर की पहली ही गेंद पर कुलदीप यादव ने बोल्ड किया और भारत को पहली बड़ी सफलता दिलाने में सफल रहे। इससे पहले कि मैच आगे बढ़ता, एक बार फिर से बारिश की वजह से उसे रोकना पड़ा।
