Tikoy or Nian gao is a rice cake made from glutinous rice that is pounded or ground into a paste, molded into shapes (usually a circle) and then steamed.
Tikoy can be enjoyed any time of the year but it is especially popularly eaten during the Chinese New Year celebrations as it is considered a symbol of a "higher year" to come.
