Menglembu assemblyperson Steven Chaw met the incensed father who threw eggs at his service centre to protest Putrajaya's decision to introduce khat (Jawi calligraphy) into the syllabus for vernacular schools.

The DAP lawmaker said he met the man at the Kampung Tawas police station after the latter was released from custody at about 1.45am, and the two of them had a frank 30-minute discussion.

"I take note of (the man's) concerns... I will not take any further action on this incident (throwing eggs at Chaw's service centre).

"DAP is always prepared to hear the opinions of the rakyat and our doors are always open.

"We will continue our efforts to provide the best service to the rakyat and the country," he said, adding that his officer's police report against the assailant has been withdrawn.
