Torrential rain to taper off, strong heat in south 080119

Good morning. If you are watching us in Korea, we hope the torrential showers and thunderstorms didn't wake you up, it was pretty intense in Seoul. We received nearly 65 millimeters in less than 12 hours. The rain has tapered off and the dark clouds are moving away from the capital.

Upper regions will see more rain through noon so have an umbrella handy. Southern provinces could see sporadic showers.

The rain down south some bring them relief from the heat, but temperatures are expected to rise with an advisories upgraded to warnings in more areas.

Morning lows in most areas are in 25 degrees Celsius, but readings will rise rapidly.

Seoul will get some relief, but Daegu and Gyeongju will hit 36 and 37 degrees, so brace yourself.
