Japan is looking to remove South Korea from its whitelist of preferred trade partners,... but Seoul's foreign minister, Kang Kyung-wha, told her Japanese counterpart today NOT to aggravate the situation.
Seoul's foreign ministry says Kang and Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono spoke on the phone Friday morning,... and Kang once again urged Tokyo to remove its trade restrictions on Seoul.
Kono held his ground on that issue, but... they did agree on the need to continue dialogue through various channels and to use multilateral meetings to exchange views.
The two diplomats also discussed North Korea's latest missile launch.
They agreed that Seoul, Tokyo and Washington need to work together at such an important juncture.
