You'll need (for 6 portions):
For the dumplings:
- 8.8 oz flour - 1¾ tsp dry yeast - 2 tbsp sugar - 1 pinch salt - 4.2 fl oz milk - 0.9 oz melted butter - 1 egg yolk
You'll also need:
- approx. 2.5 oz plum jelly - vanilla sauce - 0.9 oz ground poppy seeds - 1.7 oz icing sugar
Here's how:
1. Use an electric whisk to knead all of the ingredients for the dumpling dough. Leave the dough covered for one hour in a warm place.
2. Next, split the dough into six equally-sized pieces. Flatten each piece of dough into small round disks. Place a large teaspoon of plum jelly into the center of each dough disk. Enclose the plum jelly and form a ball using your hands. Make sure that the filling stays inside. Leave the dumplings for another 15 minutes in a covered bowl.
3. Cook the dumplings in a sieve over a water bath for 12 to 16 minutes. When serving, pour some vanilla sauce on the dumplings before sprinkling some poppy seeds and icing sugar on top.
