Robert Mueller Testifies His Report Is 'Thorough, Fair and Consistent' The Special Counsel was appointed to lead the investigation into President Donald Trump and Russian interference into the 2016 election. He was questioned for three and a half hours by members of the House Judiciary Committee. In his opening statement, Mueller was clear his testimony would be limited due to ongoing litigation. He stated that he did not "intend to summarize or describe the results of our work in a different way." During questioning, Mueller often responded in one word sentences, and cited the two volume report as answer. Mueller confirmed that his investigation did not exonerate Trump for obstruction of justice. He affirmed that the President could be indicted after leaving office. The President tweeted several times during the hearings, and campaign texts were sent out to his supporters referencing Mueller's testimony.
