Former acting CIA chief Michael Morell says a nuclear freeze by North Korea would be a logical next step in the denuclearization process In an op-ed to the Washington Post on Sunday,... Morell highlighted the positive aspects of a possible nuclear freeze - namely enhanced credibility and the possibility of partial sanctions relief, including the resumption of the inter-Korean Kaesung Industrial Complex. However, he noted a nuclear freeze could never be an end goal of the denuclearization negotiations. He also added a nuclear freeze would be meaningless without the regime reporting all its nuclear materials and long-range missile production facilities as well as granting unfettered access to international inspectors.
