Time now for our "Life & Info" segment... where we focus on information useful for your everyday life.
Summer has arrived in South Korea and just in time with the scorching heat, swimming pools and various cooling facilities have begun operations.
For more on that, we have our Kim Mok-yeon in the studio today to inform us of the various places to visit where citizens can have fun and stay cool this summer.
Mok-yeon, tell us more.

Hi Mark
Yes, summer is definitely here in Korea, and that of course means sizzling temperatures
How are you coping up with the hot weather?

How about you?

I stacked up ice everywhere, at the office, at home and I always have a mini fan within my reach haha. But I think that's just not enough.
So today I'll introduce, explore and show you some cool places we could visit to escape from the heat.
And arguably the most sought after places in this season are swimming pools. Seoul city announced that it will operate community swimming pools and water facilities in some 50 parks and plazas around 17 districts for FREE.
Some of them are open all year-long, some only temporarily, nevertheless, most of them are open now and welcoming the public until August from around 10 a.m. to 6 p.m every day.

Were you able to visit them?

Yes, one of the most well-known facilities is located at Boramae Park in Dongjak-gu district.
The park features a water fountain that runs in tune with music, and also a water playground that supplies fresh water every 30 minutes.
Listen to what visitors have to say about this place.

"It took me some time to get here, but I am very happy seeing my kid having so much fun."

"I am so excited I'm having a good time eating watermelon and playing with my friends "

"I come here often because the water is shallow and the facility looks safe and also, its free. I'm glad that grandchild is having a good time.

I can feel their excitement by just the sound of it Where else did you visit?

I also had the chance to visit the facilities at the World Cup Park in Sangam-dong.
Now this place stands out from other similar places because it has a special pool for visitors to dip their feet.

How was it?

There were not many people when I went to visit it because it was early on a workday, but the water was cool and the view was beautiful.

Now Mok-yeon, are there any health precautions we should be aware of when visiting the parks?

Of course Mark, health is always a priority.
Since its summer and many people head to beaches and swimming pools, the number of people getting injured is also on the rise.
A researcher from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that there are things we need to keep in mind before getting ourselves wet.

"Warm up before you get in, starting with the parts of your body farthest from the heart. Also, it's not good to swim right after eating."
