증시 대담

It's time now for an in-depth look at the market action on this Friday.
And for that, I'm joined on the line by Dr. Yang Jun-sok, professor of economics at the Catholic University of Korea.
Dr. Yang, thank you for coming on today.
You're welcome.
So Japan's new measures came into effect yesterday, restricting exports to Korea of of key materials for semiconductors and displays. Of course, Korea is preparing to respond at the WTO. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is saying that a country can take action on trade when it affects national security. What do you say to that is this still not a violation of WTO rules?
The Korean government has announced investments into high tech materials so that Korea doesn't get stuck like this again. Korean people, meanwhile, are trying to organize boycotts of Japanese products and of travel to Japan as a kind of retaliation. What do you think Korea should do?
There's concern that the Japanese government won't stop here. They say they're going to try to get Korea off Japan's white list that enables easier exporting. But Korea and Japan are highly intertwined, economically. In that regard, how much do they both stand to lose if this goes on?
Alright Dr. Yang. Thanks again for coming on. Have a great weekend.
