Moon seeks to broker resumption of N. Korea-U.S. nuclear talks

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the signing of the joint June 15 declaration, where the two Koreas agreed to cooperate to bring forth peace and unity on the Korean peninsula.
And President Moon Jae-in, on his state visit to Sweden, called on North Korea to show its commitment to scrapping nuclear weapons and earning the trust of the international community.
Travelling with the president, our Shin Se-min reports.
President Moon Jae-in is continuously sending signals to North Korea's Kim Jong-un on multiple fronts.
His latest message,… a more detailed proposal for reaching complete denuclearization, came during his address at the Swedish parliament on Friday.
Speaking under the umbrella of 'denuclearization on Korean Peninsula and trust for peace' the South Korean leader highlighted three levels of trust.
Trust between the peoples of the two Koreas, trust in dialogue,... and lastly, the trust of the international community.
"North Korea must substantially show to the international community its commitment to completely dismantling its nuclear weapons and to establishing a peace regime"
He said the North Korean regime can earn the trust of the international community by making practical denuclearization steps,... and added that will guarantee the security of the North.
"It is dialogue, not nuclear arms that will help North Korea secure its peace. If North Korea takes the path of dialogue, no one will threaten the political system or safety of North Korea."
And the president reiterated that the leader Kim should make a decision fast so that the nuclear talks do not get delayed.
This comes as President Moon is seeking to broker the resumption of nuclear talks between Pyeongyang and Washington,… once again calling for the North Korean leader's decision.
Moon's proposal in Sweden involves efforts to bring about lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula through multiple layers of trust,… between the two Koreas,… and with the North having closer ties with the international community.
"Attention is being paid to see whether a string of nuclear dialogue among the Koreas and the U.S. will take another swing in the weeks to come,… this,… just four months after the latest meetup in Hanoi between the leaders Kim and Trump.
