Once again our starting point is the latest on the tourist boat that sank last month in Budapest.
Around two dozen South Koreans were killed in the accident.
The vessel has been lifted onto the barge in Danube river.
We go straight to our Ko Roon-hee standing by on the line.
Roon-hee, fill us in.
Yes, the tourist boat has finally been salvaged after almost two weeks since it capsized.
Video footage shows the boat on a long barge on the river. Search operations inside the boat are still ongoing at this hour.
Local authorities, including Hungary's Counter Terrorism Centre, started raising the boat at around 7-AM local time.
During the salvaging process, more bodies were found in the wreckage.
At 7:45 AM, it was reported that one body had been found, believed to be the Hungarian captain.
Meanwhile South Korean news outlets reported that three bodies believed to be South Koreans were also found inside the boat as well. The identification process of the bodies is currently underway.
One is believed to be the child that was listed among those unaccounted for.
The death toll now stands at 24, with 4 still missing.
A total of 35 people were on the boat when a cruise ship hit it from behind while passing under Budapest's Margit Bridge on May 29.
Only 7 survived the collision.
As for the salvage operation, a point to consider is that it took longer than expected.
It was temporarily paused earlier in the day due to unexpected damage on the boat's stern,... which called for an additional cable to be attached.
Other than the salvage operation, tell us about the rescue efforts overall.
And any announcement from the South Korean government?
Yes. Search operations are still ongoing along the river, but no bodies were found as of now.
Officials from Seoul's foreign ministry said that the South Korean government has requested a thorough investigation over the cause of the accident and punish the person responsible.
The captain of the cruise liner, a 64-year-old Ukrainian, was arrested by Hungarian authorities, and according to Reuters, he is currently being held as a suspect, with bhis lawyers saying he is devastated by the incident but insists he did nothing wrong.
That's all I have at this hour.
