The World Health Organization has decided to classify gaming addiction as a mental health disorder, sparking some controversy in Korea, where gaming is huge.
Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon said today the goverment will have thorough discussions in the years to come to find the best ways to establish a sound gaming culture while at the same time developing the industry.
He acknowledged that there were conflicting views between the gaming and medical industries on the WHO's decision.
But he said those in public service should refrain from causing concerns that can arise when they speak out about measures that haven't been decided on.
