Tall ships by Roger Turner . This Yorkshire poet was inspired by Patrick Vanhalst's music. **** From where I stand I can see tall ships , Standing by the quayside . Waiting for the wind to push them out , Out to the oceans so wide . ... Whistle for wind, that will fill all their sails , And carry them over the foaming seas . To lands far away , in search of fair trade When the winds come , may it just be a strong breeze. ... From where I stand I can see tall ships , Sailing out on the flowing ebb tide . Here on the shore women stand and cry , Their sadness they cannot hide . ... Keep the ships safe , our men free from harm And the cargo secured stem to stern Here we will wait , our hearts filled with hope , All praying for a speedy return.
