Samsung is delaying the launch of its newest device days before its intended release date after several reviewers reported issues with the phone's foldable screen. The company first announced the Galaxy Fold on February 21, stating in a press release that the internal screen of the device was made of a special polymer layer that made its screen capable of bending. However, technology reviewers from The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, CNBC and The Verge all reported that the devices they had been given broke after only a few days of use. Some of them removed a protective layer that Samsung later clarified should not be taken off as it is part of the display structure. In their latest statement, Samsung explained that the malfunctions could have been related to damage to the exposed areas of the screen at the hinge of the phone, adding that one phone had substances inside that had interfered with the screen's display performance.Samsung stated it would be announcing a new release date in the coming weeks and will use this time to "evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests."
