Statistics Korea says the monthly average income of the bottom bracket declined by two and a half percent on-year to around 1-thousand U.S. dollars due to a fall in wages.
But the income gap between Korea's top and bottom 20 percent narrowed slightly in the first quarter to 5-point-8 percent.
That's an improvement from near six percent tallied in the same period last year.
This comes as those in the upper bracket saw their incomes fall 2-point-2 percent to about 84-hundred dollars,... the first decline for them since 2015.
