Samsung semiconductor sales suffer 34% drop in Q1: report

Samsung Electronics saw the biggest drop in semiconductor sales among major global chip-makers in the first quarter.
According to IT industry watcher IC Insights on Friday,... the firm's sales fell a whopping 34 percent on-year to just under 13 billion U.S. dollars,... due to slow demand for memory chips.
Its rival Intel earned nearly 16 billion dollars in the same period,... taking the top chip position from Samsung for the second straight quarter.
IC Insights expects Intel to maintain the peak position throughout the year.
