Oh, hell no. Just when Deckerstar shippers thought they had their happy ending, when they could see the light at the end of the tunnel (in a good way) and believed Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer (Tom Ellis) might finally get together, their hopes were dashed by the Devil’s decision to return to hell at the very end of “Lucifer” Season 4.
In the closing moments of the finale, titled “Who’s da New King of Hell?,” the detective told Lucifer she loved him and could accept him for who he truly was, devil face and all. But because he had just been through a battle to save his newborn nephew (congrats Amenadiel and Linda!) from demons who wanted to raise him to be the new king of hell, Lucifer decided he finally needed to go back way down under and rule the underworld himself to keep the evil beings at bay.
But before he went, he told Chloe he realized the prophecy they were so worried about coming to fruition wasn’t referring to his first love as Eve (Inbar Lavi). It was never Eve, he says, it was Chloe. It has always has been Chloe. And though they kiss and she begs him not to go, he spreads his wings, flies off and the episode ends with a huge cliffhanger, as we see the Prince of Hell finally sitting atop his throne again.
