Three-year-old Shiba Inu dog Riri paddles in the air while learning to swim.

The adorable pooch was being carried by her owner above the sea so that she could get used to the water.

But little Riri appeared all to keen to put her doggy paddle into practice and was frantically waving her paws above the clear blue ocean.

The cute video was taken at Yonaha Maehama beach, Miyakojima, Japan on April 10.
