Templo San Jose 1887 Yungay Santiago in Chile

The Church of San Saturnino is a Catholic temple located in the Yungay neighborhood , in the city of Santiago , Chile . Work of the architect Teodoro Burchard, was inaugurated in 1887 and bears the name of the patron saint of Santiago against earthquakes .

The decree to build the temple was signed by Archbishop José Alejo Eyzaguirre on August 25, 1844 on land where one of the presidios of Santiago used to operate. The construction was started by the priest Luis Benavente, and was completed by the architect Teodoro Burchard in 1887. Once inaugurated, an image carved in wood of San Saturnino , which was in the Church of San Francisco and was moved from Quito by Bishop Gaspar de Villarroel.
