Marty Wilde was born in South London and is one of the first generation British pop starts who were emulating American rock and roll. Marty was also a natural star and entertainer and was a talented singer-songwriter.
"A Teenager in love" was released in 1959 and was a big hit for Marty, reaching number 2 in the UK charts. It was originally released by Dion and the Belmonts earlier that same year. They reached the US & UK charts peaking at number 5in the US and 28 in the UK. In May, the song held three chart positions in the UK, the third version was by Craig Douglas. He peaked at number 13.
