Miniature cardboard city rises in Manila art show

An intricately detailed miniature city constructed out of cardboard is drawing visitors to an exhibition in Manila’s Museum of Contemporary Art and Design. The installation, the brainchild of Filipino couple Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan, was modelled on the urban sprawl of southwestern China’s Chengdu, but the artists say the piece resonates in the Philippines, where discarded cardboard is repurposed for shelter, bedding and furniture.
