President Moon calls on gov't to strengthen employment stability, social safety nets

President Moon says recent data show improvements in terms of employment,... largely thanks to government policies.
"Employment has not recovered completely, but government policies to guarantee fair wages and strengthen the employment safety net are showing progress. We need to continue to enact policies that show positive results, while supplementing those that have room for improvement."
He expressed concerns over the declining number of jobs in the manufacturing and retail industries,... which led to unstable employment among people in their 40s.
The South Korean leader also noted that technological advancements and the aging population are isolating many people from the labor market.
As such, the government must strengthen job security and social safety net.
Moon pointed out... these issues make the supplementary budget all the more necessary.... and called for more cooperation from the National Assembly... so the budget can be used to get rid of blind spots in the labor market.
