Korea's finance minister recently said the government is considering a supplementary budget for dealing with the fine dust pollution that's been clogging the air.
Today, the minister gave a rough amount of how much it might be -- around 1 trillion won, or over 8-hundred-80 million U.S. dollars.
Minister Hong Nam-ki was speaking at a meeting of parliament's finance committee.
An extra budget would be subject to parliamentary approval.
He said the existing budget is not enough to fundamentally solve the fine dust issue,... and he reiterated what officials have said -- that it's a "social disaster," a designation that would free up funds to deal with it.
