At least 47 killed in China chemical plant explosion

At least 47 people were killed in an explosion at a chemical plant in eastern China’s Jiangsu province. Schoolchildren were among dozens of others who were seriously injured. Online maps show that there are at least 10 schools within a 5km radius of the site. The cause of the blast is still under investigation. However, state media said the chemical plant produces more than 30 organic chemical compounds, some of which are highly flammable. The factory has been cited and fined for work safety…
