Suggs, the lead vocalist for the Ska/pop band Madness, reads Betjeman's poem On A Portrait of A Dead Man at World Book Night in Trafalgar Square, London. Sir John Betjeman, CBE was an English poet, writer and broadcaster and was Britain's Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death 1984. On A Portrait of a Deaf Man has been described as "a blunt and honest elegy for the poet’s late father, written in ballad metre, contrasting sweet memories of the past with bleak visions of the present."
