South Korea and the United States are expected to complete their new 'Dong Maeng' joint military exercise today.
The computer-simulated command post exercise began last Monday.
Meaning 'alliance' in English, Dong Maeng focuses on defense contingency mechanisms.
Earlier this month, Seoul's Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and acting U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan decided to put an end to the two-week long Key Resolve exercise and kickstart the new scaled-down Dong Maeng exercise in efforts to support diplomacy with North Korea.
