Pres. Moon leaves for trip to 3 ASEAN member nations Sunday

President Moon Jae-in is en route to Southeast Asia for a one-week trip to three member countries of ASEAN.
During the trip, he'll be focusing on strengthening Korea's cooperation with those countries as part of his New Southern Policy.

President Moon Jae-in will be aiming to reinforce his New Southern Policy as well as gather support for his push for peace on the Korean Peninsula -- during his three-nation tour that begins Sunday.
The president will be traveling to Brunei, Malaysia and Cambodia... with the hope of boosting ties with the member states of ASEAN.
From the 10th 'til the 12th, the president will be sitting down with the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, for a summit and a state dinner.
There, the president is expected to broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation and work to develop Brunei's patent system.
On the 12th of March, the president will be in Kuala Lumpur,... where he will be working on upgrading relations with Malaysia to a more future-oriented partnership and working with Malaysia on future technologies like smart cities.
Agreements on those matters and other Memorandums of Understanding will be put to paper and then announced by the leaders themselves in a joint press conference.
The South Korean leader's last stop,... Cambodia,... at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
During his stay there, the president is expected to discuss ways to further enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields and exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.
And following up,... the leaders will watch the signing of a number of agreements and give a joint presser as well.
The Blue House says the trip to the region will be an opportunity to lay the groundwork for constructive bilateral and multilateral relations going forward,... crucial to boosting the president's New Southern Policy as well as upholding the respective nations' support for the South Korean government's drive for peace on the Peninsula.
