South Korea's top 10 listed corporate groups... paid a record amount in taxes last year... at nearly 34-point-4-billion U.S. dollars.
According to market tracker Chaebol-dot-com, that's an increase from the previous year of almost 19 percent.
Taxes paid by Korean chipmakers, which saw a boost in sales last year, were particularly notable.
Tech giant Samsung Electronics paid nearly 15 billion dollars last year, an increase of 20 percent.
The amount paid by SK Hynix doubled to 4-and-a-half-billion dollars.
