The driving licences of nearly 11,500 motorists in the city have been suspended this year for drunk driving or repeated traffic violations.
This is one of the highest seizures of DLs and is the fall out of intensified special drives to curb accident rates. The traffic police have recommended suspension of driving licences of 14,280 motorists. Of these, 11,500 have been suspended while the fate of around 2,800 is awaited, sources said.
