- Vishal and his cousin Shubham (Vishal's father is a BJP local worker-Sanjay Rana) and Rupen were the main accused who made the announcement from the temple.
- They claim they saw a dog dragging in a packet next to a transformer close to Akhlaq's house. They claim someone told them Akhlaq had dropped the packet.
