NewsX brought to light the apathy of district administrations in Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad, Banda and Ferozabad that issued meager compensation cheques of Rs 63 to Rs 297 to rain-hit farmers.
“Government has ridiculed the poor farmers. They have been treated like beggars. The kisan which gives food to the nation has been left in a miserable condition. They have given cheques of Rs 75/- , how do you expect to run your house with it. All farmers are upset. Some of them say they will suicide if they are not compensated properly,” said a farmer in Faizabad.
