26/11 mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi's detention cancelled by Islamabad HC

Islamabad: In a move that could be a major setback for India in the 26/11 Mumbai attack probe, the Islamabad High Court passed an interim order on Monday cancelling the detention notification of Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

As per the order, Lakhvi can walk out of jail once a written order is issued as no other cases are pending against him. Lakhvi had moved the court of Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi, challenging his detention under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) for 30 days despite bail orders issued by an Anti-Terrorism Court of Islamabad.

The order comes after a Pakistani anti-terror court had on December 18 granted bail to the LeT terrorist. The bail order came just two days after the massacre of over 150 people including 132 school students by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists during an attack on the Peshawar Army School and College.
