Congress picks riots accused Jagdish Tytler & Sajjan Kumar for Delhi poll team
  • 5 years ago
In a decision which could put the Congress on the backfoot ahead of the Assembly Elections in Delhi, party vice president Rahul Gandhi has included two controversial leaders in his team for the national capital.

As per reports, Rahul has included Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar in his team for the Delhi elections, dates for which are yet to be announced.

Cabinet had yesterday approved the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly, as recommended by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

Both Tytler and Kumar have been accused of involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, and their inclusion in the core Congress Delhi team could see the erosion of Congress' Sikh votebank.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra has termed Rahul's decision as “shocking”.

Meanwhile, there are eight members in Rahul's team for Delhi polls.
