Bangalore: Five seniors suspended for attacking PU student

Five students of Lady Velankanni Composite College in Varthur were suspended on Wednesday for allegedly ragging, stripping and thrashing first-year PU student Karthik Tyagarajan.

Karthik, 17, is undergoing treatment at Vydehi Hospital after he was beaten up allegedly by 15 senior students on the college campus on Tuesday. Sources said a dispute over funds for Ganesha festivities on Friday was the cause. A group of seniors was collecting money for the festivities only from juniors. When Karthik questioned this, the seniors took him on.

Karthik said: "Some men, including seniors of my college, approached me when I was going for lunch on Tuesday. They took me into a room where there were no cameras. As I was talking to the leader of the group, someone slapped me and others punched me."
