Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah’s Mumbai visit on Thursday will have an item conspicuous by its absence: A courtesy call at Matoshree.
A visit to the residence of Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray—and before him, his father and Sena leader Bal Thackeray—has been customary for all BJP presidents. Shah skipping Matoshree in his first Mumbai trip as BJP president has given rise to speculation that the party is sending a political message, though it has denied any such implication.
