Hearing in Salman Khan’s 2002 hit-and-run trial case resumes today

A day before a sessions court resumes trial in the 2002 hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan, the original statements of several witnesses are still missing. The 12-year-old case had been adjourned almost a month ago to help the prosecution relocate the papers.

A Bandra police constable handling the papers — taking them to court and coordinating with court officials — has died and the one who replaced him denies any knowledge of the missing statements. He has told his seniors that the statements were in the custody of the late constable.
