Despite the persistent opposition of members of the minority community to the route taken by kanwariyas through Dumka, Mirzapur, Dhaura Tanda, Jamuniya, Ahiladpur, Kalari and Jogi Newada villages in Bareilly district, the BJP is determined that the yatris be allowed to traverse this route. To settle the matter, the party is planning a mahapanchayat on Sunday at Mirzapur village. In the past few days, members of the minority community have opposed the route of the yatra, especially as it passes close to their places of worship, and suggested that an alternate route be followed. Earlier, the BJP had planned a mahapanchayat in Kanth village of Moradabad to settle a dispute that had arisen over the removal of a loudspeaker from a temple, at the behest of requests from members of the minority community.
