Residents of campa cola moves to bombay high court

On Saturday the residents of the illegal flats in the Campa Cola society were served with a notice under section 488 of the BMC(Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) act saying that the BMC will enter the flats on June 17.

The BMC has said in the notice that they will be entering their premise at 11:30am on June 17 to cut off the supply of water, electricity and gas to these houses.

The residents were served with the notice although in a cabinet meeting on Friday, the idea of seeking the advice of the AG(advocate general) was approved.

BMC officials say that they will be carrying on with their plan of action until no firm directions are given to them either from the state government or the court.

"Why isn't the BMC waiting for the AG to respond after the CM said to do so? Why can't they see that the state is now willing to help us?" questioned Nandini Mehta.

"The cabinet members have said that there should be some intervention in this case on the basis on a humanitarian angle," she added. Sunanda Verma, another resident believes that the CM has given yet another false promise. "He (the CM) has done this the third time to us. But we have our fingers crossed," she said.
