In Karnataka, the second report of the supposed study tours of the MLAs has been released. The highlights of the tour of the MLA's to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji islands over new years eve includes details of their visits to cherry farms, juice processing, a cave of of fireflies, helicopter visits to a glacier, sight-seeing, but falls short of including any details of the topic on which the study was supposed to be done- the improvement of the backward classes.
The report which leaves much to be desired in terms of quality has no recommendations to make to help the backward classes.

Furthermore, instead of raking up the issue, the committee head defended the tour, and asked why the media was creating a fuss about 'just' Rs 70 lakh. "I don't know why the media is so touchy about this one thing, several people have gone earlier likewise we have gone, what is so great, we hardly spent Rs 70-80 lakh on this tour. Do you know the size of this fund? Will it spoil the economy of the state," BR Yavagal said.
