In a possible rejig ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Union minister for environment and forests Jayanthi Natarajan resigned from the Union Cabinet on Saturday.
President Pranab Mukherjee "as advised by the Prime Minister has accepted the resignation of Jayanthi Natarajan, minister of state (independent charge) for environment and forests, from the council of ministers with immediate effect", the statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
