NewsX: MEA summons US ambassador to convey shock over unacceptable treatment

The standoff over the arrest of Indian Deputy Consul General Devyani Khobragade in New York continues.US State department says the Foreign Secretary is not covered by the Vienna convention on consular relations. This means Khobragadae enjoys no diplomatic immunity in the US.
The MEA had expressed shock and anger over the deputy consul general's arrest on Thursday. US ambassador Nancy Powell was also summoned to convey India's "shock" over "absolutely unacceptable" treatment meted out to the senior Indian diplomat.
