Srinagar: In a book released seven months after his execution, Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru has purportedly praised Taliban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar for "shattering the supremacy" of the United States and allied forces in Afghanistan. The 94-page book, titled "Ahle Imaan Ke Naam Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru Ka Aakhri Paigam," is reportedly a compilation of diaries written by Afzal Guru while he was in jail before being hanged in February this year. The book was released in Srinagar yesterday by a separatist organisation. "Taliban commanded by the leader of the faithful Mullah Mohammad Omar is a ray of light in darkness ... this group has shattered the supremacy of the US and NATO forces although developed Muslim countries like Turkey, nuclear power Pakistan and Arab countries are scared of the West," the book quotes Guru as having written in his diaries. Written in Urdu, the book has been edited by separatist leader Shafi Ahmad Khan Shairiati. Shairiati claims that Guru sent him this "message for Kashmiri people" from Tihar Jail, where he was lodged before being executed.
