NewsX: IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, who was in the news last week for clamping down on illegal sand mafia in Greater Noida, was suspended from her duties as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar on July 28, 2013.

Her suspension has ruffled feathers in bureaucratic circles. Here's a look at other bureaucrats who suffered at the hands of politicians by being repeatedly transferred or being denied plum postings.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday 'justified' the suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, and denied he was under 'any pressure' from the mining mafia in the State

28-year old Nagpal, 10 months into her posting as Sub-divisional magistrate, had clamped down on the mining mafia in Uttar Pradesh, believed to be in cahoots with the Akhilesh Yadav Government.
